Flash Flood Watch Issued For North Alabama

Heavy rain is expected to move into north Alabama late tonight and last through around lunch time tomorrow. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches will be possible in many locations with locally higher amounts.

The Flash Flood Watch begins at 9:00 PM Tue night and expires at Noon Wednesday. Keep in mind, that there is also a Marginal Risk for severe storms Wednesday morning.

.The combination of a warm front lifting into the area and low
pressure system approaching from the west will produce widespread
showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rainfall, from this
evening into Wednesday morning.

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM CST THIS EVENING THROUGH
NOON WEDNESDAY…

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Alabama and southern middle
Tennessee, including the following areas, in Alabama, Colbert,
Cullman, De Kalb, Franklin AL, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence,
Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan. In southern middle
Tennessee, Franklin TN, Lincoln, and Moore.

* From 9 PM CST this evening through Noon Wednesday morning

* Periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms will overspread the
area this evening and tonight, and persists into the morning
hours of Wednesday. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are likely
over most of the area, with locally higher amounts possible.

* The resulting excessive runoff may lead to flash flooding,
particularly in poor drainage areas and low water crossings.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
